It was the strangest thing. I felt like I was in a bad horror movie or something. It was the dinner hour. I'd say around 5:30 or so. We went to our favorite Chinese restaurant for some take out. We walk in and there is no-one there. Literally. Not a single person dining. The entire staff was sitting quietly around a large table at the back. No-one said hello, or even looked up. That was really weird, but we wanted to look at a menu anyway, as we wanted to try some new things. We sat for five minutes or so. Still no-one made a move to acknowledge us. Huh. After a while we finally had to ask (even though we double checked the sign outside) if they were even open. The guy said nothing to us but called to the kitchen. He continued sitting with the others. Quietly. Still we did not know what the hell was going on. Finally a young gal comes to take our order, assures us that they are open, and says our food will be ready in "fifteen minutes". This was too weird. This particular place is always packed. Packed. With excellent service, even. We decided to go across the street for a cocktail. When we got back to pick up our order it was the same deal. All over again. Apparently something happens there on Tuesdays that is totally strange. The food, however, was extra special good. Weird.
