Yesterday morning Richard’s shoe, one of the slip on ones he keeps at the back door for when he goes out, was mysteriously halfway across the yard. Of course he blamed me. Why I’d be randomly tossing shoes around…. Anyway, when I finally went out to get it and put it back on the step I found it had been chewed on. Some malicious beast came into my yard and chewed his shoe! And moved it around! What? I say it was a cat… That stealthy ninja cat. But it could have been a wild animal…

Yup.

imageUPDATE! The shoe is gone! The animal HAD to have come back and taken it! But what if ity only made it to the neighbor’s yard, and she thought we threw it or something? Embarrassing!

  1. Is the shoe still wearable? I hate having to get rid of a god pair of shoes.

  2. The shoe is still wearable. Heh. It’s just so weird that our shoe was singled out like that.

Okay, someone had to say it.  Sounds like you’ve got a coyote problem over there.

  4. ok, scary.  do they have coyotes in san diego?  how sad that i don’t know that.

anyway, maybe there’s a way to keep the shoes just inside the back door?  we have to do that because i’m scared of black widows crawling into any shoe that isn’t a flipflop.

and maybe you could leave just the unchewed shoe out so the critter can come and chew on it, so then you’d have a matching pair?
