Richard and I have had this outstanding joke for years. If there is a chore or something I don't want to do I ask him, saying "I'll give you a dollar." Or if he's in a bad mood, "You want a dollar?" This literally has been going on for years. There never was a dollar to be had, and sometimes we laugh about it. It's just one of those stupid things between couples, you know? So today we are talking about I was talking about how I need a laptop, and after some discussion about how we can't afford it he pops off with, "I know, why don't you pay me all those dollars you owe me and I'll buy you one." So not funny.Oh, but how funny would it have been if the shoe was on the other foot?
Seriously, from his point of view?
totally funny.
Unfortunately, the punch line was at your expense.Posted by scorpy on 09/01 at 07:27 AMHa ha ha, clever
Posted by Wayne on 09/01 at 10:56 AMWe have the same kind of thing going on in our relationship. Nowadays, I tell him that I want to see the dollar first before I do anything for him.
But when the phone or doorbell rings, we both yell “Not It!!” And if we tie, it’s a round of paper/rock/scissors.
Posted by yayaempress on 09/01 at 02:55 PMThat was cute… so did you guys make out after that?
Posted by Robert on 09/01 at 03:25 PMWe do the same thing, except we offer more money the more we really don’t want to do something. “I’ll give you a hunded dollars to do the dishes.” “I’ll give you ten thousand dollars to put the kids to bed.”
You guys are adorable.

Posted by Hed on 09/02 at 11:31 AMI must be getting the short end of the deal - - my guy asks me to do something and offers me a quarter - - funny thing is though I steal his change all the time and tell him it’s for all the quarters he owes me - - and my change bank is full. I keep telling myself I’ll save enough for vacation and I’m not sure how much is in there, but maybe a vacations worth some day.
So am i really getting the short end?
