Okay. I knew using public transportation would be ugly. I really thought I was prepared for it. But how do you plan for odors? I mean, there was this guy who sat next to me the minute the seat opened up. He smelt like garlic, wet cat, the city dump, and fierce body odor all at the same time. The puzzling thing was that he did not appear to be dirty. So I sat there, trapped in the window seat, for a stop or two. I actually had to cover my nose. I know it's rude, but so was that smell! (I will need to apply my own cologne a little differently. I figure if I put it low enough on my wrist, the hand over nose thing will be more effective...) I sat that way until two more stops went by and there were clearly a lot of totally empty areas to move to (which most folk will move to so as to not sit by anyone) but this guy had not budged. I looked at him plainly, looked at the empty seats, and cleared my throat loudly. He finally moved. Hello? Fresh air? Good to smell you again... I know. Totally evil. But come on! It's called deodorant people. So handy, especially in such close quarters.

Posted by Ash on 06/25 at 10:39 AMAh, the joys of public transit. I’ve experienced it too.
I wonder sometimes- am I the ONLY one paranoid about how I smell?!
Either carry Febrezee for moments like that, or a noseplug. Either would be effective and both would send a message.
Posted by Lachlan on 06/25 at 02:12 PMYet another reason why I think my phobia of public transportation is 100% justified.
