I have had a day. I am unwilling to categorize it yet, even though we only have like two, okay no minutes till the next day. In fact, I really should be asleep. Gawd I hate having to wake up. I should just not work. But then I’d be bored. Ugh. We cannot have that! Better to be so busy you cannot do what you want than bored… So I had this orientation class today, as I do in my AOR, and there was this one gal with the big attitude. You know, like the Paris Hilton eye rolling ‘I don’t need to be here’ kinda thing. I hate that shit. You applied honey, so suck it up and act right. She had all the correct answers, but every time she thought I wasn’t looking those eyes would roll. I tried to even single her out a bit, thinking she’d get the hint, but no. Ugh. People. No wonder I’m anti-social.
There was this one guy, not in orientation but like a regular customer. He was great. His baby had made a spill. He asked me for towels. Towels! So he could wipe it up! I swear I just about fell over. People NEVER announce their spills, let alone offer to WIPE IT UP. I was so happy. Like Miss America or something I graciously handed him some paper towels. What? You thought I was gonna clean it? Ain’t my kid who made a mess! I get enough crap people just leave behind I get to deal with. Just yesterday I picked up 7 beverage cups people ditched in the store.
Eh. It all ended right though. My Madonna iTunes pre-order was in a day early! So exciting. I am chair dancing as I type (okay, that’s just creepy. sorry.)
That is one thing I don’t miss about working: having to give the orientation classes! Although I was usually vindicated by how certain people behaved in there, because I would have said I didn’t want to bring them in in the first place, and because of numbers, or the persistence of these prospective employees, I would have to.
I used to actually tell my boss things like: “Ha! In your face!”
Hopefully Ms. Paris Hilton will be a better employee than trainee.
