Democrats wasted no time in criticizing President Bush for his support of a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. "By endorsing this shameful effort to write discrimination back into the Constitution, President Bush has betrayed his campaign promise to be 'a uniter, not a divider,'" Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts said on the Senate floor. "By endorsing this shameful proposal, President Bush will go down in history as the first president to try to write bias back into the Constitution."
So I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I am usually not a political person. I do not like to watch the news on t.v. In fact, the only news I do get is from the news sources on the sidebar there. I really don't even venture into the "news paper" links to often. I normally find the news to be somewhat depressing. It's not like I can immediately effect any of it, and it normally doesn't have an effect on my daily life. However, this whole gay marriage controversy could do just that. It's funny though, I never thought any of this would come up. I never thought marriage was an option. I think on some levels it may have been a relief. I really didn't see the whole issue. This post from Queerday, however, kind of makes me pay attention a little more.
