The complex and multi-talented Miss Nicole Richie was in town as of late. She was to be signing her new book, The Truth About Diamonds at the big Barnes and Noble. I had an errand to run on my way to work and ran in to two delightful young ladies with giant sunglasses, flip-flops, and silver handbags. “Are you going to see Nicole Richie tonight? You have too. She’s so great!” The taller one asked before her friend interrupted her, “There are going to be soooo many people there. We are going to be FIRST!” This was at 9 in the morning. From what I gathered the signing started at seven in the evening…. I wished them luck and headed over to start the work day, wondering how they got out of school.
On my way home I made a point to look at that parking lot. It was 6:45 it was not even looking full (well no more than usual, there is that giant theater there), and there was no line at the bookstore. Huh. I bet those girls were bored waiting all day. But then who knows, it could have been absolute mayhem that I’ll hear about on the news later. Or not.
Perhaps that was some of Richie’s people trying to get more people to show up.
