Really! You had to see it. I had just picked up a few things at Ralph’s, over in the gayborhood. I headed next door to Trader Joe’s to get a box of Charles Shaw Merlot. Who am I kidding. It’s 2 Buck Chuck! Anyway, I walked in and it was just a mass of people. We’re talkin’ standing room only folks. It took me a minute to figure out that it was THE LINE. I kid you effing not! But I had nowhere else to be, being that it’s my day off, Richard’s at work, and I know not another soul here. So I fought my way in, grabbed my wine, and headed up to the checkout mob. Luckily, I had noticed that the express lane (?) or the checkout by the door had a discernible line that was a fraction shorter.
As if the wait wasn’t enough, there was a man towards the front of the line shouting out progress and cheering on the checker. I think he had opened up his wine a bit early. 20 minutes later I had my wine. Victory! But seriously, if that’s what an average Sunday looks like, I’d maybe open a few more stores in the area. It’s like businesses had no idea how big San Diego is… Ugh.
gee, that’s how it is at my trader joe’s on the weekends, too. you’d think they’d open up another one, but alas, it is not to be. so i either have to go on a weekday night or drive all the way to the west side, where there are like 5 within 5 miles of each other.
